What are

Day Care Homes?

Private homes where children under age 13 are cared for.

Homes that provide a safe environment where children can learn, grow, and receive nutritious meals and snacks.

          Two Types of Homes

Licensed Homes

Homes that care for 6 - 15 children.

Alternate Approved Homes

Homes that care for 5 children or less.

Why should you be a

Provider?

To have a positive impact in education of young children.

To receive supplemental income for meals and snacks served to children.

To interact with other care providers.

To expand your career as a child care provider.

To receive materials that increase the reading skills of children.

What are the

Requirements?

Must be 18 years old.

Must be under a sponsoring organization.

Must have a Safety Sanitation Inspection or License (if you’re keeping more than 5 children).

Must be monitored by sponsor.

Attend training required by sponsoring organization and State Agency.

Children must be enrolled in program.

Must have an operable telephone.

Must have a fire extinguisher and smoke detector.

Operate program according to Child Nutrition Program regulations, policies and guidance.

How do you earn
Supplemental Income?

Day Care Homes Program are reimbursed monthly for serving meals that meet the minimum requirements set forth by the USDA Program.

DCH providers are reimbursed based on the type of home it operates:

 

Tier I

The home is located in a low income area or the provider has a low income.

Tier II

The home is located in an area not considered low income and the provider is not considered low income.

Mixed Tier

The home serves some low income children, is located in an area not considered low income, and the provider is not low income.
