The CSBG program assists eligible low-income households overcome obstacles that prevent them from becoming self-sufficient. The types of assistance available are Case Management, Direct Assistance, and Supportive Services. The target population is low-income households who meet the eligibility criteria.

The LIHEAP program assists eligible low-income households in offsetting the high cost of home energy bills. A household may be eligible to apply for assistance annually. There are two types of assistance: regular (non life threatening situations) and emergency (life threatening situations). The target population is low-income households who meet the eligibility criteria. Appointments are made from the current waiting list on a first come, first served basis.

To be eligible for assistance in these programs, households must be at or below 125% of the poverty income guidelines as established by the Office of Management and Budget, Washington D.C. Clients must provide proof of all household income for the 30 days prior to their application date, social security numbers for all household members, and documentation for needed service. A current energy bill in their name or name of a spouse living in the same household is required for LIHEAP.

Case management intensity level and the length of time determined for a client to achieve goals set in the case plan will decide level of assistance. Goals will be monitored monthly and required documentation must be submitted to determine compliance. Clients can be denied assistance for refusal to complete an assessment or to participate in case management. Payments vary based on client need, case management intensity level, and client resources.
